Barnacle® Best Practice Guidelines

Barnacle Parking is revolutionizing parking enforcement with The Barnacle®. The device enables municipalities, universities, commercial and residential properties, and others to enforce parking rules safely and easily while providing bad parkers with an appropriate consequence to their actions.

With over 50,000 deployments, Barnacle and our clients have gained real-life insights on best practices when using The Barnacle.

No one wants to get caught breaking the rules. However, when they do, we believe that they should be treated fairly. We know that our clients who use our tool feel the same.

To ensure you are providing the best experience for the public, enforcers, and property owners alike, we’ve outlined some best practices and recommendations that you should follow.

Fair Fine Amount: A fair and reasonable fine amount is crucial to avoid repeat offenders and ensure that your organization is not perceived as using excessive or predatory pricing practices. The amount must also comply with state and local laws so make sure you verify that they do.

Grace Period: Allow for a grace period before applying The Barnacle to the violators’ windshield.

Post the Rules with Proper Signage: Ensure you have clear and visible signs notifying motorists of the parking rules and what the consequences are for breaking them, including the fine amount.

You’ve been Barnacled™ Card: Utilizing our ‘You’ve been Barnacled’ card helps mitigate motorist concerns by explaining the reason they got a Barnacle, the payment process, and the advantages of The Barnacle over other enforcement methods.
